Newborn Care & Lactation Support in Calabasas
Individualized, unhurried care for your baby’s first weeks — with expert lactation support and reassuring guidance for new parents, at our office or in your home.

Dedicated support for your baby’s first weeks
The early weeks after birth are a profound transition — and the most important time to set healthy growth on track while supporting exhausted new parents.
Rather than quick checkups in a busy clinic, we offer extended visits to evaluate every aspect of your infant’s transition home: weight-gain patterns, jaundice, umbilical cord care, feeding, and sleep. Our team is led by American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) author Dr. Tanya Altmann, Editor-in-Chief of the AAP’s Caring for Your Newborn and Young Child. Whether you’re a first-time parent or welcoming another child, we guide you every step of the way.
Professional in-home and office lactation consultations
Breastfeeding is natural, but it often presents early challenges that skilled guidance can transform. Our newborn care specialist and certified lactation educator, Polly Gannon, works alongside our pediatricians to deliver complete feeding assessments.
Pre- and post-feed weight checks
Precise digital scales measure exact milk transfer during a nursing session — clear data that offers reassurance and removes the guesswork about supply.
Oral anatomy & latch evaluation
We examine your infant’s mouth and jaw for efficient sucking, identify tongue- or lip-tie, and coordinate with specialists if needed.
Pain-free positioning
We demonstrate comfortable holds — cross-cradle, football, side-lying — for a deep, efficient latch that keeps both of you comfortable.
Pumping, bottles & formula
We support every feeding choice without judgment, with custom schedules and guidance on equipment, milk storage, and formula selection.
Your newborn visit schedule
First visit (days 3–5)
Conducted shortly after discharge — we evaluate weight retention, check for jaundice, assess feeding, and review your recovery.
Two-week check
Most infants regain birth weight by now. We perform a physical exam, review reflexes and feeding, and guide emerging sleep rhythms.
One-month milestone
We track growth on standardized charts, assess early vision and hearing responses, review tummy-time, and give scheduled immunizations.
